Information You Need to Know - Connecting Parents & Guardians

Emergency Situations… parents please speak to your students about the importance of reporting anything questionable to a trusted adult. If they hear or see anything on social media or elsewhere, it is imperative they report it. All information will be kept anonymous. Should you be made aware of a situation which could potentially be unsafe or dangerous, during afterhours or on the weekend, there are several things you can do. There is a Confidential Community Concern and Awareness Phone Number - 708-572-9405. In the event of an emergency, we do ask that a concerned citizen contact 911. You can also email our Security Director, Don Christie [email protected] or our Principal, Jen Pollack at [email protected]. As always you can reach out to me on REMIND and I can contact you and the proper personnel. Remind messages go directly to my phone so I will be able to respond quickly.

FEES...

I-Pad Protection: I-Pad insurance is available for $25, it can be added to the student's cart in the Fees section (RevTrak) on skyward.  If they do not want to pay by credit card, they can bring in (or send with their student) cash or a check payable to CHSD218. Your student's iPad is not covered in the District 218 Protection Plan until the fee has been paid. All I-Pads will need to be inspected before coverage can be purchased.

Library - LRC Fines:  Please check your students’ Skyward account periodically for outstanding fines. If your student has overdue library books or textbooks, fees are being added to their Skyward account.  All overdue books should be returned to the LRC and fines can be paid to the bookkeeper Sue Phelan in the Main Office with cash, Visa/MasterCard or Discover, or thru your Skyward account. For questions regarding LRC fines, contact Kim Borgia at 708-371-1111 X 3815.

Student Fees:  Please check to see if you have an outstanding balance through Skyward Family Access (using your parent login). Visa/MasterCard/Discover payments can be made online.  Cash, check or money order made payable to CHSD218 can be brought to Sue Phelan located in the Main Office. Questions, please contact Sue Phelan at 708-371-1111 X 3590.

Yearbook/School Pictures: Yearbooks can be ordered online with a credit card (small processing fee applies) at www.yearbookforever.com.  You can also pay with a check at school in the Activities’ Office. The cost is $65 with the code Astro24 or $70 regular price. Please include the student’s name and ID on the memo line.  No cash.  Yearbooks will be distributed in May. FOOD...

Breakfast After the Bell: Students can start their day off with a quick to-go breakfast; it is FREE and available every morning in the cafeteria until 8:15 a.m. for all students. Students have the option of a hot or cold breakfast; some options include yogurt, fruit, milk, granola bar, etc.

Food deliveries for students; NOT ALLOWED.  To prevent strangers from gaining access to our school, a major safety issue, we ask that students not open building doors for non-staff members. A student who opens a building door for food deliveries is subject to discipline and may have their food confiscated. Questions, contact Tim Butler at [email protected] or by phone 708-371-1111 x 3610.
