Attendance Issue - Attention Parents & Guardians, as a reminder the district requires that parents notify the attendance office when their child is absent or needs to leave early. If the parent does not inform the school their child is absent, the student will be referred to the discipline office for a Full Day Absence (FDA). A full day absence is when a student does not attend at least three class periods or does not attend school for the entire day. Students that earn a full day absence referral may lose academic credit for work assigned in the classes they missed, and they may also receive a 3-hour after school detention. To excuse your child, please contact the attendance office at 708-371-1111 x3630 when they're absent.
Breakfast After the Bell: Students can start their day off with a quick to-go breakfast; it is FREE and available every morning in the cafeteria until 8:15 a.m. for all students. Students have the option of a hot or cold breakfast; some options include yogurt, fruit, milk, granola bar, etc.
Food deliveries for students; NOT ALLOWED. To prevent strangers from gaining access to our school, a major safety issue, we ask that students not open building doors for non-staff members. A student who opens a building door for food deliveries is subject to discipline and may have their food confiscated. Question, contact Brian Roberts at Roberts@chsd218.org or by phone 708-371-1111 x 3610.
Gym Uniforms: are available the first week of class during their gym period. The uniforms can be purchased from their teacher. The cost is $10 for a t-shirt, $10 for shorts, $15 sweatpants. Locks are also available for $5. Uniforms can be purchased in the athletic office, located by the gym.
I-Pad Protection: I-Pad insurance is available for $25, it can be added to their cart in the Fees section on skyward. If they do not want to pay by credit card, they can bring in (or send with their student) cash or a check payable to CHSD218. Your student's iPad is not covered in the District 218 Protection Plan until the fee has been paid. All I-Pads will need to be inspected before coverage can be purchased.
Library - LRC Fines: Please check your students’ Skyward account periodically for outstanding fines. If your student has overdue library books or textbooks, fees are being added to their Skyward account. All overdue books should be returned to the LRC and fines can be paid to the bookkeeper Bonnie Kay in the Main Office with cash, Visa/MasterCard or Discover, or thru your Skyward account. For questions regarding LRC fines, contact Diana Coleman at 708-371-1111 X 3800.
School Locks: The Orange district issued locks MUST stay on the lockers upstairs, they cannot be used for PE/sports/swim lockers, those have to be provided by the students. Locks can be purchased at Ace, Walmart, Menards, Walgreen etc. A $5 charge is incurred if locks are missing.
Student Fees: Please check to see if you have an outstanding balance through Skyward Family Access (using your parent login). Visa/MasterCard/Discover payments can be made online. Cash, check or money order made payable to CHSD218 can be brought to Bonnie Kay located in the Main Office. Questions, please contact Bonnie Kay at 708-371-1111 X 3590.
Yearbook/School Pictures: Yearbooks can be ordered online with a credit card (small processing fee applies) at www.yearbookforever.com. You can also pay with a check at school in the Activities’ Office. The cost is $65. Please include the student’s name and ID on the memo line. No cash. Yearbooks will be distributed in May.
