hi there my name is Julie bun and I am yours too insecure for AP u.s. History so our class is a class that is typically offered to Juniors and it is a graduation requirement that said it is an AP class and so your student has an opportunity to earn college credit for the work that they do in our course on May 4th and they will be taking a cumulative exam that is 3 hours and 15 minutes long and assessing on the content in the skills of our course there's a big emphasis on writing in the course instead of something that you can expect your students we talkin about frequently we will right time to essays and class at least once a unit on soon taking short answer questions at least once or twice each unit as well I'm so we'll be working on the skill of argumentation supporting our arguments with evidence and will also have a big Focus literacy in terms of analyzing primary sources and reading the scholarship other historians now as far as what your student will do I know weekly nightly basis it's nice they're going to have reading assigned from this it was a one-off then have a worksheet to go along with it with his first unit were kind to support them with a course exam description Alliance reading guide that goes with their aunt this happens to be a consumable so as the year goes on if your student doesn't need to take notes but they prefer to annotate in the margin highlight that something that's totally inappropriate for them to you because this is a copy of the book other resources to support your students of the College Board offers resources through an application from AP classroom on students are all in AP classroom and they have access whether I assign them or not I'm too content specific and skill specific videos aligned with each of the topics from the course exam description they also have access to Khan Academy videos which from time to time I will assign as well because they align nice with the with a course exam description on the topics of the course exams will and each unit often times with the multiple-choice exams will have a sliding scale on that offer really generous curve just to kind of put in perspective if it's June on the multiple-choice exam portion of the AP exam runs the 60% that's usually equivalent to passing or qualifying for the APA so if we let that stand in our grade book that is a d I'm so we have a generous curves that sort of tries to get shoes accustomed to the rigor of the questions about penalizing their grades and a similar approach will also be used you going there I say is I'm using the College Board rubric other ways that your student might seek support if they need some help or have an exam to make up and they can always schedule time with me before after school with a little bit of advance notice if you have any questions about the content that your stream is studying or the material were using in class or the exam format additional materials will be made available I'm also sometime around March I'll be pushing out information to everyone about ways to review for the steak exam and strategies and resources beyond what I've already mentioned to help prepare if you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out our course is rather aggressive it goes at a fast clip and we will get all the way to our last unit in 1980 to the present I'm so we'll be talking about Reagan will be talkin about the Bush Administration will be talkin about all the things that we do keep a fast-paced and kids going to learn a lot and and again if you have any questions please the street
