hey my name is Julie bun and your student is enrolled in a cheap human geography here at Shepherd high school I'm super excited to have them in our class this has quickly become my favorite class. DJ Satish AP u.s. History exclusively and I'm now I get to have three sections with your go students a day so we have about 60 students enrolled and these kids are going to be working towards the AP Sam which for our class is going to be on May 3rd on for those of you who don't know at the end of the year there will be a cumulative exam that checks their understanding of all of the skills and the content from the core and if they demonstrate proficiency on that exam and Ernest a qualifying score of 3 or higher on their likely to earn college credit I am we have about 45 and last year and about seventy percent are walking around here as sophomores who earn college credit okay the pretty cool thing that exam format students will be working on multiple choice questions and things are called probably going to be wet and Deuces most anxiety and your students is writing a Time free response question and so those are the two formats that will be working with the most all year those use will be designed in a series with seven Parts each and students will either be identifying describing defining explaining or comparing I'm in those frqs various content based on various gym that's exam format and I will be pushing out tons more information about the exam and what exam they will look like and review resources for exam day around March but if you have any questions it at meet the teacher or a conference is to be happy to entertain any and all of them I know for first-time students are taking AP Class A lot of questions, so I would be happy to address those April 4th at themselves first resources are concerned I'm for our class we have an Amsco text that looks like we'll see us inside here I'm your suit has a copy of this here and it is a consumable so if they're writing in it don't worry there can I get in trouble it is their copy to highlight but it's sticky note in you know whatever they would like to do if they want they can keep this at home they probably will have nightly notes from this book lots of folks I'm in the class on lots of content and this is going to be our primary source for those things I say do you want to leave it at home but they have time at school to work on homework I have extra copies in the room that they can feel free to you. borrow this is our primary text we also have other resources to support students especially if they might be struggling college board has a website AP classroom that students can you lies information there they have for each of the topics in the course exam description sometimes I will sign those videos but other times students might just realize that they didn't miss class or they don't understand the concept very well and they can go to AP classroom and watch this whether I've assigned them or not I'm going to give some really good Clarity to the the course content and skills there are other resources to I'm mistress and has a whole web page or a whole YouTube channel I should say those that are aligned perfectly with the the course exam description for a human geography class there's a video about every one of those from time to time but if your students struggling that's a good space for them you go to get help we also watch a lot of box related videos Economist reduce videos cuz really what this course is all about it is great in your students worldview so they have a understanding of the patterns and processes that are in place in our world you can see on this sheet and that's that's displayed here at that our course is organized schematically so I first unit is like foundational and it's going to be there in adoption skills like scales of analysis and different forms of I'm too graphic data and how to use them and identify spatial patterns and things like that but from there we moved to matically so we have a population and migration unit have a culture you where we talk about religion and language patterns and why do Saturn's exist how things diffuse across space and time we'll look at a political unit from there I'm looking at you we can make sense of that based on our understanding of political geography agriculture cities and then finally Industrial Development well we'll take on and I think your students are going to find a lot of value in the course of this document that is projected on the side I'm going to try and post that along with my materials it's just a quick one pager right and back have some sample test questions so that you can get us onto the material that your student will be covering in here if your student is ever struggling and needs some extra help their best way to do that is to make an appointment with me before after school maybe even our lunch. The line but but I'm happy to to be a support in that way so please reach out if you have questions or concerns and I am really looking forward to a great with your students
