Educators Rising

Mission: There are few things more important or more powerful than the opportunity to shape a young person’s mind, and that’s what teaching is at its core. It’s a job where you’re making a difference every minute. For a student, one skilled teacher opens up a world of possibilities

There’s never been a greater need for smart, creative young people like you to choose teaching as a career. By joining Educators Rising, you can set yourself on the path to becoming that innovative, skilled, life-changing teacher.

Student Membership 

As members of Educators Rising, students are able to access the following resources and activities: 

  • Monthly guided discussion questions, designed to help students discuss and reflect on the most pressing topics facing educators today. 
  • Access videos of highly skilled teachers in action, original content to help students develop teaching skills and prepare for college and more. 
  • Guest Speakers & Field Trips 
  • Competitions in lesson planning, bulletin board making, public speaking, 
EdRising will meet on Tuesdays in B-108 after school 
Tues Jan 6th - meeting & Concession stands
Fri Jan 19th - Course selection info for fitting education classes into your schedule 
Tues Feb 6th - meeting & then working concessions 4-7:30
Tues Feb 20th - put together box of love for Turpin Cares
Mon March 4th - EdRising Conference at ISU be at school by 6:30 am, home around 6-7ish pm
Sat March 2/9 (TBD)- Read Across America @ DDE

Classes that focus on teaching you can take at ABS:  

  • Early Childhood Education (Prerequisite: Child Care and Parenting)
  • EMPOWER (Prerequisite: Foods or POWER PE)
  • Diversity in Education (Dual Credit)
  • Teaching Methods (pre-requisite for Teaching. Internship & Dual Credit)
  • Teaching Internship (Dual Credit* spring semester senior year) 


Goals 2023-24 School Year

  • Attend Future Teachers Conference at ISU
  • Community Outreach (programs with middle/elementary schools and public libraries).
  • Bulletin Board Creation for staff & clubs
  • Guest Speakers on Education (what’s their story?) 
  • Staff Appreciation Events
  • Compete at local/state levels
  • Ideas from members are welcome!
