We are happy to welcome you to Speech Team here at Shepard High School, an award winning team that has fostered several state champions! The Speech Team is a competitive activity that hones the skills of members' communication, organization and teamwork. Our mission is to help team members think quickly, communicate creatively and effectively and to become outstanding public speakers through performance in 14 different state sanctioned events.

Club Mission: We serve the school community by teaching students to develop communication skills and strategies for competition at the local, regional and state levels in forensics. These skills will serve them well as they continue to grow in their confidence as students. We envision a world in which every school provides a speech program to foster each student’s communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creative skills.
We will meet on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30 pm in room A112 and via Zoom, if need be. You will find our Zoom link on our Google Classroom page. Tournaments are held on Saturdays hosted by various area high schools, and the typically run from 7 am to 5 pm. The Speech Team provides bus transportation from Shepard High School (Door 1 - by the flagpole) to the tournament school, and then returns team members to Shepard at the end of the tournament. Parents may provide transportation to/from the host tournament high school with prior approval from Coach Dunaway.
