Mission of the Shepard Chess Team:
The Shepard chess team strives to build community among students through playing and competing in chess.

First Meeting of 2023: Wednesday, August 23, 2023
First Competition: Tuesday, October 3rd
Chess is an IHSA Competitive Activity.
There are 8 positions on our Varsity Team, and 5 positions on our Junior Varsity Team. Positions are determined by skill level.
Our competition schedule for the 2023-2024 school year can be found on our Google Classroom (Join Code: le242ag)
Our goals for the 2023-2024 school year:
- Create a fun community for students to enjoy learning about and playing chess with their peers!
- Participate in a competition season with other schools in our conference.
- Increase tactical knowledge of the game and provide students with outside resources that would also develop their skills.
- Qualify for State in February!!
Meeting Information:
General Meetings/ Practices: Wednesdays: 3:20pm - 4:30pm, Room 221A
Competitions (beginning October 3rd): Tuesdays after school. Official schedule is released to players via the Google Classroom.
