NOVA is our most elite vocal group at Shepard High School; being part of this group is a privilege that takes hard work, dedication, and excellent attendance!
Auditions will be September 9th after school, 3:15-7:00. There is a vocal component and a dance component. The dance component will be taught Thursday August 29th, after school (two sessions; 3:15-5:15, and 6:00-8:00. Students can come to either one or both choreography clinics if so inclined, they are identical sessions.) The vocal component is a solo chosen by the student (verse and chorus), prepared music (available in B133) and a basic vocal warmup.
DURING FALL: NOVA will rehearse on Mondays from 3:15-5:15pm, while musical and marching band are happening.
AFTER MUSICAL ENDS: NOVA will rehearse on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:15-6:00pm, and Saturdays from 10am-4pm. Students will be notified at least 2 weeks in advance of any scheduling changes.
All rehearsals and competitions are mandatory- students in show choir will not be allowed to participate in another winter sport or activity, but are encouraged to participate in fall and spring sports or clubs. Show choir runs from September to March, with November through March being our busiest and most competitive season.
Any questions can be directed to Mr. Hatcher in B133.
