School Social Worker

Background Information

Hello!  I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at CHSD 218 since 2005, first starting at Delta/Summit before transferring to Shepard in 2018.

I received my Bachelor in Psychology from St. Catherine University in Minnesota.  I went on to work in Colorado at group homes for teens in the foster care and department of correction systems for two years before moving to Switzerland for a year.  I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master in Social Work in 2002 and began my work as a School Social Worker on the south side of Chicago at an alternative school with CPS students.

At Shepard, I work with many of the special education students and students with 504 plans both individually and in small groups as part of their related services.  I am also available to all students with the last name beginning E-M.

As a School Social Worker, I work collaboratively with counselors, school administration and community agencies to support students and families in need of assistance due to a variety of circumstances. Through advocacy, prevention programs, brief counseling, crisis intervention and referrals, I am able to help students work through difficulties in their lives and as a result, give them a better chance of succeeding in school and achieving their educational goals.
