my name is Helen Pappas on the counseling facilitator for our families who have an 8th grader currently who will be a freshman front page of information is the counselors and support services department we all work together to help me the needs of students whether they be academic personal social or post-secondary needs so planning After High School so there are some examples at the bottom of the page of things that we help our students what are also phone numbers extension at the top so if you have any questions please feel free to contact us at those numbers our next page contains important dates to be aware of our Administration reaches Junior High School to get information regarding our students so that we need place them in the horses that has meet their meetings and allows them to be successful course placements are determined Through Math and Junior High teacher feedback once our District 218 administration of chains all of them formation they determine placement for students that all of that is prepared for a course election-night switch this year will be held on Tuesday January 29th and Wednesday January 30th winkers all students and parents so that we can reserve seats in courses for students for the next school year in February March and April their District Master schedule to make sure that we have enough courses and teachers for the following year so in May is the last chance to call her counseling department with requests for changes in placement while after changes and requests are on horses are not full so we encourage students and parents to come in during course selection nights and ask a questions so that they can be reserved just teeth and their preferred courses Beyond those freshman course selection nights runs from 5:30 until approximately 7 there will be amazing with more specific information but we encourage families to come on night during that time. Also that they made meet with a counselor and get the question to answer next page contains information about the Freshman program General list of courses and how many courses and in what subject areas students will be taking is fresh one little bit of information about the choices in the middle of the day and then our online resources are located at the website that's listed on the bottom of the page we encourage you to check out our support services and counseling links and pages so that's why you can be informed about the information needed the next page contains all listing of our graduation requirements as well as College admissions requirements some of her students only need a high-school diploma for what their plans are for After High School however many of our students to go on to at to obtain additional education while the two year college trade school or 4-year University and the requirements are a little bit higher for admission into a 4-year University the next page contains information about our District 218 grading policies we think that it's available for students to know coming in that they will be graded on Mastery and Men are junior high Partners also have similar grading scales where much of the grade is based on common unit assessments or other tests and quizzes other rather than just their own assignments R6S most successful students have some really good habits and we encourage our incoming freshmen to develop these habits as well and those are listed at the bottom in a half of a peach and our last page is regarding future College athletes and all students who would like to play sports in college must also know that there are academic grade point average test scores and specific courses you can find more information on the web sites for the National Collegiate Athletic Association or NCAA or NAIA for you contact you were student counselor once they enter Shepard high school we end with what's the best way to start high school and we like to talk to students about what their dreams are their hopes and and to begin with that end in mind so that we can guide them in the steps needed to get there thank you very much please do not hesitate to call us if you have any questions or concerns
